Cosmic Order Before the Birth of Humanity
Humanity has not yet appeared, but the world is no longer undivided: heaven and earth stand apart, celestial bodies move, seasons return, landscapes and living things occupy places, and divine beings and mythic beasts enter the order.
Textual and Narrative Context
Pangu provides the main narrative from chaos to realms and natural features. Taiyi Sheng Shui, the Laozi, Huainanzi and the Classic of Mountains and Seas add principles of generation, recurring time and mythic geography.
How to Read This Entry
At this point the world can carry life, while human origins, cultural inventions and social order remain later questions.
Relation to Other Creation Accounts
The entry gathers all six chapters: chaos provides the starting condition, Pangu separates the realms, space forms, the many things fill it, recurring order operates, and life occupies the world.
Comparative Reading
Research identifies the extant source, lost-work quotation and date, then marks what can be established and what remains unknown.
All things, divine beings, nature and mythic beasts occupy the world before humanity. Light, weather, landforms and living relations already operate, while human origin and cultural institutions remain later questions.
What the Sources Establish
Nüwa’s creation of humans and the traditions of Suiren, Youchao, Fuxi and Shennong occur after humanity or the culture heroes enter the story and should not be folded into cosmic formation.
